Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken Recipe

    • 1 whole chicken (about 4-5 pounds), giblets removed
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
    • Cooking spray or oil mister


    Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes.

    In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried thyme, and dried oregano to make the seasoning blend.

    Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels, ensuring the skin is as dry as possible. This will help achieve a crispy skin.

    Rub the olive oil all over the chicken, ensuring it is evenly coated.

    Sprinkle the seasoning blend generously over the entire surface of the chicken, rubbing it into the skin to ensure even coverage.

    If your air fryer basket has a rotisserie function, secure the chicken onto the rotisserie spit, making sure it is balanced and centered.

    If your air fryer doesn’t have a rotisserie function, you can still cook the chicken by placing it directly in the basket. However, you may need to turn the chicken halfway through cooking for even browning.

    Lightly spray the air fryer basket or rotisserie spit with cooking spray or mist with oil to prevent sticking.

    Place the chicken in the air fryer basket or insert the rotisserie spit into the air fryer, making sure it is properly positioned.

    Cook the chicken in the air fryer at 360°F (180°C) for about 30 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured in the thickest part of the thigh and breast.

    Halfway through the cooking time, pause the air fryer and use tongs to rotate the chicken if it’s not on a rotisserie spit, ensuring even cooking and browning.

    Once the chicken is cooked through and golden brown, carefully remove it from the air fryer.

    Let the chicken rest for about 10 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.

    Carve the chicken into pieces and serve hot with your favorite sides.
