Bacon Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (about 6-8 slices)
    • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped (optional)
    • Extra shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits for topping (optional)


    Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, quickly work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a slightly lumpy dough is okay.

    Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped chives (if using).

    Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead it a few times to bring it together, then pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

    Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.

    If desired, sprinkle extra shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits on top of each biscuit.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

    Allow the biscuits to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Serve these Bacon Cheddar Biscuits warm and enjoy them as a delightful addition to breakfast, brunch, or any meal.
