Baked Spaghetti Squash Recipe


    • 1 medium-sized spaghetti squash
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 cup marinara sauce
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)


    Preheat the Oven:

    Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    Prepare the Spaghetti Squash:

    Cut the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise.

    Scoop out the seeds and pulp from the center using a spoon.

    Season the Squash:

    Drizzle each half with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, spreading it evenly over the cut surface.

    Season with salt and pepper to taste.

    Bake the Squash:

    Place the squash halves, cut side down, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the squash is tender and easily pierced with a fork.

    Scrape the Squash Strands:

    Allow the squash to cool slightly, then use a fork to scrape the flesh of the squash into spaghetti-like strands.

    Assemble the Dish:

    In a baking dish, layer the spaghetti squash strands.

    Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the squash.

    Cheese Topping:

    Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese over the squash and sauce.

    Sprinkle dried oregano on top for added flavor.

    Bake Again:

    Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.


    Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

    Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
