Chocolate Oreo Cupcakes Recipe

    Ingredients:

    For the Cupcakes:

    • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 cup boiling water

    For the Oreo Filling:

    • 12 Oreo cookies

    For the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:

    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
    • 1/4 cup whole milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 12 Oreo cookies, crushed (for garnish)

    Instructions:

    Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with paper liners.

    Prepare the Cupcake Batter:

    • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined.
    • Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the sugar and egg mixture. Mix well.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
    • Pour in the boiling water and stir until the batter is smooth.
    • The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.

    Fill the Cupcake Liners:

    • Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with the chocolate batter.

    Add the Oreo Filling:

    • Place one Oreo cookie in the center of each cupcake batter-filled liner.

    Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

    Cool:

    • Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Prepare the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:

    • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until well combined.
    • Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.

    Frost the Cupcakes:

    • Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, pipe or spread the Oreo Buttercream Frosting on top of each cupcake.

    Garnish:

    • Crush the remaining 12 Oreo cookies and sprinkle the crumbs over the frosted cupcakes for a delicious finishing touch.
