- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
Prepare the Bananas:
Peel the ripe bananas and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Mash them with a fork or potato masher until smooth.
Add Baking Soda and Salt:
Sprinkle the baking soda and a pinch of salt over the mashed bananas.
Mix well and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
This helps to activate the baking soda.
Incorporate Melted Butter:
Melt the butter and add it to the mashed banana mixture.
Stir until well combined.
Add Sugar, Eggs, and Vanilla:
Incorporate the granulated sugar into the banana mixture, followed by the eggs and vanilla extract.
Mix until the ingredients are well combined.
Fold in the Flour:
Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Optional: Add Chopped Nuts:
If desired, fold in the chopped nuts into the batter.
Walnuts or pecans work well for added texture and flavor.
Transfer to Loaf Pan:
Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Keep an eye on it and adjust the baking time if needed.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, slice and enjoy your classic banana bread!
