Delicious Buttermilk Pie Recipe

    For the Pie Crust:

    • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2-3 tablespoons ice water

    For the Filling:

    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
    • 3 large eggs, beaten
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    Prepare the Pie Crust:

In a food processor, combine the flour, cold cubed butter, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough comes together. Be cautious not to overmix.

Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Roll out the Pie Crust:

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled pie dough to fit a 9-inch pie dish.

Carefully transfer the rolled-out crust to the pie dish, pressing it into the bottom and sides. Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges.

    Pre-bake the Pie Crust:

Line the pie crust with parchment paper and fill it with pie weights or dried beans.

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove the weights and parchment paper, then bake for an additional 5 minutes until the crust is lightly golden. Allow it to cool while preparing the filling.

    Prepare the Buttermilk Filling:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, melted butter, beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt until well combined.

    Assemble and Bake:

Pour the buttermilk filling into the pre-baked pie crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. You can refrigerate it for a few hours for a firmer texture.

Slice the delicious buttermilk pie and serve on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream.

Enjoy this classic Buttermilk Pie with its creamy, tangy, and sweet flavors!
