From-Scratch Russian Tea Recipe

    Table of Contents

    • 4 cups water
    • 4 black tea bags
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 4 cloves
    • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
    • 1 tablespoon orange peel, dried
    • 1/4 cup lemon juice
    • 1 cup orange juice
    • Optional: Russian samovar for brewing and serving

    Boil the Water:

In a medium-sized saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

    Steep the Tea:

Once the water is boiling, add the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

Reduce the heat to low and let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength.

    Sweeten the Tea:

Stir in the sugar, adjusting to your preferred level of sweetness.

Continue stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.

    Infuse with Citrus Flavors:

Add the dried orange peel to the tea, allowing it to infuse for an additional 3-5 minutes.

Pour in the lemon juice and orange juice, stirring well to combine.

    Strain the Tea:

Remove the tea bags, cinnamon stick, and cloves from the pot, using a fine-mesh strainer.

Discard the solids, leaving only the infused liquid.

Pour the freshly brewed Russian tea into cups or a teapot.

Optionally, use a traditional Russian samovar for a more authentic experience.

    Garnish (Optional):

Garnish each cup with a slice of orange or a twist of orange peel for an extra burst of citrus aroma.

Sip and enjoy this warm and comforting From-Scratch Russian Tea. It’s perfect for cozy gatherings or chilly evenings.
