    Ingredients:

    For the Gingerbread Cake:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions:

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves until well combined.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using a hand mixer or stand mixer.

    Add the molasses and egg to the butter-sugar mixture, and beat until fully incorporated.

    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.

    Slowly pour in the hot water while continuing to mix until the batter is smooth.

    Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
