Homemade Peach Cobbler Recipe

    Table of Contents

    For the filling:

    • 6-8 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    For the topping:

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 1/4 cup boiling water

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or a similar-sized casserole dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until the peaches are well coated. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

In another mixing bowl, prepare the topping. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Pour the boiling water over the flour mixture and stir until just combined. The batter will be thick.

Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the peach mixture in the baking dish, covering it as evenly as possible.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly around the edges.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

    Enjoy your homemade peach cobbler!
