Molasses Crinkle Cookies Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup molasses
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

    Instructions:

    Preheat the Oven:

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

    Combine Dry Ingredients:

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Set aside.

    Cream Butter and Sugar:

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add Wet Ingredients:

    Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until well combined.

    Incorporate Dry Ingredients:

    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

    Chill the Dough:

    Cover the cookie dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm. This step helps the cookies maintain their shape during baking.

    Shape the Cookies:

    Take about a tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated. Place the coated balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between them.

    Bake:

    Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.
