Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes For Two

    Table of Contents

    Igredients:

    • 4 ounces (about 113 grams) high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick or 113 grams) unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup (60 grams) powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup (30 grams) all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 large egg yolks
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Cocoa powder or powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
    • Fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

    Instructions:

    Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease two 6-ounce ramekins or small oven-safe dishes with butter or cooking spray.

    Prepare Chocolate and Butter:

In a heatproof bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and butter together. You can do this by placing the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) or by using short bursts in the microwave. Stir until smooth and well combined.

    Combine Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, sift together the powdered sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt.

    Mix Wet Ingredients:

In the chocolate-butter mixture, add the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the eggs are fully incorporated.

    Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures:

Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fill Ramekins: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared ramekins.

Bake: Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes. The edges should be set, but the center should still be soft.

    Serve:

Carefully remove the molten chocolate lava cakes from the oven. Allow them to cool for a minute before running a knife around the edges to loosen. Invert each cake onto a plate.

    Garnish and Enjoy:

Dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar if desired. Serve immediately, either on their own or with a side of fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

These Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes are best enjoyed warm, with the gooey chocolate center oozing out. Enjoy your delicious and romantic dessert!
