The Best Chocolate Cake Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
    • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
    • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • ½ cup vegetable oil
    • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
    • 1 cup boiling water

    Instructions:

    Preheat Oven:

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

    Prepare Dry Ingredients:

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

    Combine Wet Ingredients:

    Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.

    Mix well until the batter is smooth and well incorporated.

    Add Boiling Water:

    Carefully add the boiling water to the batter, mixing continuously.

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Cream Butter and Sugar:

    In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add Cocoa and Vanilla:

    Add the cocoa powder and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until well combined.

    Gradually Add Milk:

    Gradually add the milk to the frosting mixture, beating continuously until smooth and spreadable.

    Frost the Cake:

    Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of chocolate frosting on top of one cake layer.

    Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining chocolate frosting.
