Memorial Day weekend in Houston: Wear sunscreen.

It will be a bright, hot, and dry Memorial Day weekend in the Houston region.

So many people will be visiting Bolivar Peninsula, Galveston, Surfside Beach, and other coastal Texas destinations.

Remember that the most dangerous thing you may encounter at the beach this weekend isn't a shark or a jellyfish.

Wearing sunscreen and finding shade when possible will help protect you from harmful ultraviolet radiation, which is a leading cause of skin cancer in the United States.

The garbage you bring with you to the beach should not be left there.

Friday: Temperatures were forecast to reach the mid-60s inland and along the shore, with a modest uptick inland.

Saturday: The beach is particularly pleasant on Saturdays. According to the forecast, today will be warm and partly overcast, with highs in the 80s and lower 90s.

Looking ahead: Rain chances on Sunday will be somewhat greater than they were on Saturday.

In the locations south of Houston, precipitation is most likely to fall throughout the afternoon.
